It’s March! That means it is time to put those extra expenses in stasis! We’ve made our plan, now it is time to execute it.
If you are like me, one of the best ways to make sure that I stay on track this month is going to be to keep my goal front and center. I am very much an out of sight, out of mind kinda girl! That means, I will be tracking EVERYTHING this month on a daily basis to make sure I am staying focused.
Now before you panic, tracking is not about crunching numbers—it’s about staying accountable, celebrating your wins, and staying motivated to reach your goals. Pat yourself on the back for every penny saved, every impulse purchase resisted, and every financial goal crushed along the way.
- Stay Consistent: Make tracking your spending a daily or weekly habit to stay on top of your finances and keep yourself accountable. Set aside time each day or week to update your tracker, review your progress, and adjust your spending habits as needed.
- Celebrate Your Wins: Every penny saved is a victory worth celebrating, so don’t forget to pat yourself on the back for staying on track with your goals. Treat yourself to a small reward for reaching milestones along the way, whether it’s a cup of coffee from your favorite cafe or a cozy night in with a good book.
- Stay Motivated: It’s easy to lose motivation when faced with a long month of penny-pinching, but remember to stay focused on your goals and keep your eye on the prize. Visualize your goals, remind yourself why you’re taking on this challenge, and stay positive even when the going gets tough.
So, how am I doing this? Well I created a tracker. A printable calendar with my rules and my allowed expenses on it. Each day, I will use a marker to color in the squares indicating if I met, or missed, my goal! Its simple, its pretty, and its a visual. All very helpful to my ADHD brain!
The calendar I used is available here, or you can create your own. Just remember, do what works for YOUR brain. This is meant to be the easy part! Haha!
